The FCA is planning to roll out programme of regional events called Live & Local for smaller firms this year.
The events programme will focus on three main sectors: investments, mortgages and general insurance.
The roll-out follows a successful pilot in 2015, the regulator said in its business plan for 2016/17.
The FCA has dedicated regulators assigned to the largest firms it covers, but most firms fall into its ‘flexible portfolio’, where there is less frequent regulatory contact.
The regulator said its Live & Local team will spend a month in a variety of locations in each of the UK’s 12 regions, working in partnership with local firms an advisers.
The events will include roundtables, surgeries, supervisory workshops and focused sessions on culture and governance.
