The Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (AIRMIC) is reminding insurers and risk managers that, despite issues like terrorism hitting the headlines regularly, the most common cause of business loss is still fire.
AIRMIC is teaming up with the Fire Protection Association and the National Forum for Risk Management in the Public Sector, ALARM, to stage a seminar - 'Fire Revisited'. The seminar will look at the effects of fire on industry and the public sector.
Former AIRMIC Chairman David Ketley said: "What is so frustrating is that many large losses could have been prevented in the first place. The one common theme for risk managers to consider is that no matter how much insurance you have it cannot compensate for the amount of time and effort spent in the aftermath of the loss."
The seminar will take place at the TechnoCentre in Conventry on 8 March.
