Arthur J. Gallagher & Co has announced the death of its chairman Robert Gallagher.

"My uncle Bob was a true leader and an inspiration both to his peers and the two generations of professionals who have followed him into this business. He was the center of the heart and soul of this company, which he loved deeply," said Patrick Gallagher, president and chief executive of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

"Bob's wit, intuition and knowledge of our industry were unparalleled. He will be deeply missed by everyone in our organization. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and will work diligently to ensure that his legacy lives on."

Throughout his career, Bob was actively involved in the insurance industry, including terms served as director and president of the Insurance Institute of America.

In 2001, he was named Insurance Industry Charitable Fund Man of the Year. His leadership and contributions extended into the community as well.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
