Giles Insurance Brokers is launching a new initiative to provide support to charitable and voluntary organizations in the communities in which it operates.

'Giles in the Community' will encourage employees to take an active role in helping out individuals and organizations most at need in their local area.

Sarah Lyons, group managing director at Giles, said: “We recognize that a company of our size can do more, and Giles in the Community will help us to achieve that.

“We regularly hold internal fundraising events and our branches are actively encouraged to fundraise locally too. However, we think that we can make a much bigger difference if we pool our resources and efforts and have a structured scheme with regular, planned activity which engages all of our employees at all of our branches.

“We know that many organizations adopt similar initiatives, but this is a first for our company and is an extremely positive and exciting development. I believe it is also indicative of our strong position to be able to commit to something on this scale in the current economic climate.”

Giles sets out its vision

Last week, Giles hosted a national conference to outline its vision for the future.

The Vision 2011 conference was attended by 250 Giles employees and over 20 insurers, including chief executive Chris Giles, Lyons, and finance director Mark Chambers.

“The conference was a great success, and it was fantastic to have so many people from Giles come together to learn more, direct from the senior management team, about our plans, our vision and how we aim to achieve our short and long-term ambitions," said Lyons.

“Over the coming months, we will be working on the implementation of some of our key objectives, while continuing to look for new opportunities to assist us in our plans for the future.”
