Thompson Heath & BondFrank Murphy has been appointed managing director of Thompson Heath & Bond Ltd, the Lloyd's broking arm of THB Group plc.Gill Cotter, who held this position for eight years, has been appointed deputy chairman of the Lloyd's broking operation in addition to her responsibilities as director of group operations.Frank Murphy joined THB in 1999 and became chief operating officer of Thompson Heath & Bond Ltd in 2001.
John Eke & PartnersSarah Dyke has joined John Eke & Partners as a client service executive in the commercial department of its Bridgwater office. Dyke has 16 years' experience in the industry.
Culver HoldingsWales-based broker Culver Holdings has made board changes following the resignation of finance director George Asprou.John Biles, who has been a director of Culver Holdings since 1991, will succeed Asprou.
RL DavisonLloyd's and London market broker RL Davison & Co. has made several management appointments. Lawrence Shortland has been appointed chief executive and managing director. Shortland has been with the company for ten years and was most recently responsible for the commercial division.John Davies has become deputy chairman of RL Davison. Davies has been with the company for 12 years and was in charge of the company's motor division.Sharon Myers has been appointed to the position of financial director and company secretary, having worked with the company for more than ten years.
NFU MutualNFU Mutual has appointed Kim Arif as general manager, finance.Arif was previously deputy general manager, finance at NFU Mutual.In his new role, Arif has responsibility for investments, group finance, group corporate governance and risk, compliance, secretarial and internal audit, as well as holding the position of director for three of NFU Mutual's joint venture companies.Arif joined NFU Mutual as assistant actuary in 1990. He moved up through the life division to become life finance controller in 1998.
IlliumLloyd's liability syndicate, Illium Syndicate 4040, has appointed four underwriters.Paul Baynham, Paul Woodward, Colin Ivory and Matt Hunt have all joined Illium.Deputy underwriter Paul Baynham joins Illium from AIG Europe UK, where he was primary casualty underwriting manager. At Illium he will have overall responsibility for the UK liability account, reporting to active underwriter Denis Burniston.Paul Woodward joins Illium's UK liability team from AIG Europe UK, where he was senior casualty underwriter.Colin Ivory joins Illium from Willis, where he was executive director of Willis Global Markets International, with responsibility for placing international liability business with Lloyd's and London companies.Underwriter Matt Hunt joins Illium's UK liability team from GE Frankona Reinsurance, where he was casualty facultative and direct underwriter.
InsurE-comJon Morrell has joined the management board at InsurE-com as strategy and strategic relations director. Morrell has worked in the insurance industry for 23 years. He was formerly a director of Polaris UK. Morrell's last role was sales and distribution director for Groupama, where he was responsible for business development, relationship management, agency management and ecommerce as well as being programme director for all of Groupama's core business system replacement projects. Morrell was also an FSA approved person and a member of the ABI's general distribution committee.Darwin Rhodes
Kirsten Quarman has joined recruitment company Darwin Rhodes as manager, general insurance, based in its City office.Quarman has 14 years' recruitment experience. Business process transformation and outsourced services provider Navigant Consulting has appointed Colin Smith and Gary Izatt as senior managing consultants. Smith has held senior positions at several insurers and chaired the LMBC Closing & accounting business panel. Izatt was formerly a Lloyd's and company market underwriter.Smith and Izatt will jointly manage Navigant Consulting's new FSA Compliance Assessment and Support service - a risk-based methodology, known as FRAMe, which allows insurance companies, brokers and Lloyd's syndicates to identify and analyse their business work streams against FSA-defined risks and issues. Chris Rebello has been appointed as corporate development manager for Navigator Group, the national quality assurance, risk assessment and compliance service provider.Rebello joins the Kent-based group from Barclays Stockbrokers, where he spent ten years in senior roles, including six years as head of corporate business development.
