Hiscox has employed four core members of Independent Insurance's regional professional indemnity (PI) underwriting team.

Lee Chelton, John Booth, Lee Hudson and Rosalind Smith have begun work with Hiscox within its existing PI team.

Axa
Axa has appointed a nuclear scientist to its board.

Artur Niemczewski, a former scientist, engagement manager at McKinsey & Company and Capital One director, has joined Axa as director of strategy. He holds a PhD in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He was invited to join the management board of Axa after conducting a strategic review of two of the company's business units earlier this year.

MMA Insurance
Bob Still has been appointed claims operations manager at MMA Insurance.

He has more than 25 years' experience specialising in claims.

Greystoke Legal Services
Sally Dunscombe has been appointed managing director of Greystoke Legal Services, the company behind legal expenses insurer Law Assist.

She was formerly with Anderson Consulting before joining Greystoke's parent company, the Hanover Park Group, in 1996.

Rural Insurance
Joanne Walker and Chris Shaw have been appointed commercial underwriters of Rural Insurance. Walker was previously at Congregational & General Insurance and Shaw was at Norwich Union.

SBJ Stephenson
Neil Forsyth has been appointed divisional director of SBJ Stephenson, the corporate insurance arm of SBJ Group.

Royal & Sunalliance
Royal & Sunalliance has appointed John Perera as consultant marine surveyor in the UK Marine Practice.

He joins from LGSA Marine, where he held the post of chief surveyor.

Motor Accident Claims
Motor Accident Claims has appointed fivenew business development executives to its sales team.

They are Steve Spitzer (Midlands), Lewis Rudge (North East), Cliff Mott (London and Home Counties), Rebecca White (South West), and John Parker (North West).

Addleshaw Booth & Co
Simon Twigden has been promoted to head of Addleshaw Booth & Co's litigation and dispute resolution practice.

He takes over from John Gosling.

GAB Robins
GAB Robins is to open an office on the Channel Island of Guernsey. It will be headed by Richard Headington, who has more than 16 years' experience in the insurance industry.

Insurance Institute
Karen Piotr has been appointed president of the Insurance Institute of Bradford. At the age of 32, she is the youngest ever president.

She has been working in the insurance industry since 1986 in various roles, notably Eagle Star and Sun Alliance, Swinton and GAB Robins.

Institute of Risk Management
David Ovenden has been appointed to the Court of Governors of the Institute of Risk Management. He was previously chairman of the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers (Airmic).

Claims Management Group
Claims Management Group Limited (CMGL) has appointed Andrew Smith as an account manager. He joins from Omni Whittington.

He will report to CMGL's business operations manager Jim Clark.
