A man has been charged after computer systems were hacked at mobile IT company Esselar and Aviva in May 2014.
The 39-year-old man from Guildford has been charged with three counts of unauthorised acts to prevent or hinder access to a computer, the BBC reports.
The South East Regional Organised Crime Unit said the attacks had resulted in “significant financial cost”.
A spokesman said data had been wiped from hundreds of mobile devices.
The man was charged under the Computer Misuse Act and bailed until 24 February.
