Insurer Ecclesiastical has urged the ABI to help make diagnosis of personal injuries a "more exact science".

Ecclesiastical wants the ABI to help fund research by the Motion Analysis Research and Rehabilitation Centre's (MARRC) into muscle and joint injuries.

The insurer said MARRC needs cash to fund its testing of a motion analysis technique which would make personal injury diagnosis more accurate. It said the technology could help medical practitioners to accurately diagnose claimants.

Chief claims manager David Bonehill said: "We're looking to the ABI to fund research and get the necessary endorsement so [the technique] can start to be used in personal injury cases."
