A real-time tracking solution to improve vehicle and cargo security to its fleet has been adopted Express Logistics, a leading specialist in secure transportation.

Called Orchid, the system has been developed by Global Telematics. It has already saved Express Logistics £1,500 in insurance premiums, with likely further savings.

Orchid pinpoints vehicles, including those stolen, in real time, and establishes security zones around parked cars. Alarms are automatically set off if a vehicle is moved outside of hours.

Express Logistics managing director Mark Priestly said: “We can now give customers an accurate picture of order progress and estimated delivery times. It can also confirm delivery to reduce the risk of late-arrival financial penalties.”
