Lloyd's is synonymous with ideas. Some good, some bad and some out of this world. So it's no surprise to hear that it has donated £300,000 to a project in Tower Hamlets called Idea Store.

It offers the "Idea Mix" of learning and library services for all in bright new buildings, providing free internet access, over 900 courses, "a variety of fun and educational events for every age", and books available for loan, as well as CDs and DVDs.

Backchat would suggest that those who find Lloyd's Old Library seats a little uncomfortable for their afternoon nap take a trip over the river to give the spanking new upholstery a try, which is much more amenable.
