Following the earthquake which hit Kent over the weekend, Lloyds TSB Insurance is dealing with a rising number of claims for structural damage to properties. The insurer said it has over 2,000 customers in the affected area and has so far received claims for collapsed chimneys and damage to outer walls, driveways and pathways.
Lloyds TSB Insurance staff who are dealing with the aftermath of the event have been briefed on how to deal with claims resulting from earthquakes, including the types of claims they may receive and areas of the country which will have been affected. The insurer is now proactively calling customers to check whether they have been affected and whether they need to make a claim.
Phil Loney, managing director, Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: "As always in situations like this, time is of the essence. We have made sure that all our staff are fully prepared to handle the increase in claims following the earthquake. We are proactively calling customers in the affected areas to check if they need to make a claim and will be able to help them if they wish to do so. However, we'd urge anyone who has been affected to follow our advice and give us a call as soon as possible.
