Lloyd's underwriter launches Alpha Underwriting

A new underwriting business, Alpha Underwriting, has been launched by underwriter Mark Allen to target the broker market.

Alpha Underwriting specialises in the accident, health and travel sectors, utilising underwriting capacity from Lloyd’s.

It will be led by Allen, who most recently was an underwriter for a Lloyd’s syndicate, developing a portfolio of accident and health business.

“A quick response turn-around to broker enquiries is at the heart of what we do," said Allen.

“We recognise that in the highly competitive markets in which brokers now operate, they want to be able to respond to their clients very quickly and to a high quality. We, therefore, pride ourselves on our high service standards, with the ability to quickly turnaround enquiries.

He added: “There is a clear need to give brokers access to competitively priced and well thought-out services, especially in the business travel and corporate personal accident sectors.

“The goal in establishing Alpha Underwriting is, therefore, to capitalise on the wealth of travel, accident and health insurance expertise that myself and my colleagues have, in order to provide an independent underwriting source for brokers.”
