Munich Re has placed catastrophe bonds worth €110m (£75m) to provide the reinsurer with added protection against Western European windstorm losses until 2009.
The company said the bonds will be triggered in the case of a 1-in-100-year windstorm event in Western Europe.
It added that the bonds are rated BB+ by Standard & Poor's.
