Misys has appointed Phillip Bell chief executive of the newly-created General Insurance business area within the Financial Services Division.
Bell has worked for the Misys Group for ten years, most recently as managing director of Misys Financial Systems.
He will continue to hold his position as chief executive of Misys Financial Systems.
The company said this appointment reflects a continued commitment by Misys to the UK's General Insurance market.
The new division includes Misys Financial Systems, Misys Insurance Management, Misys Claims Management, Misys Insurance Services (Ireland) and ACT Insurance Systems.
The chief executive of the Financial Services Division, Ivan Martin, said: "The creation of this position and the appointment of Phillip will enable us to further co-ordinate and focus the resource of these businesses.
"This appointment will allow Misys to fully leverage the potential of these businesses which are strategically well positioned in a market experiencing fundamental change."
