’I’m delighted to be joining the ABI at such an important time for the insurance and long-term savings industry,’ says appointee

The ABI has appointed Dimitra Christakou as its new director of membership and commercial development.

Christakou joins the trade body with responsibility for overseeing member relations and the ABI’s portfolio of events, networking initiatives and professional development programmes.

She brings experience across membership, commercial development and events, having held senior leadership roles at BusinessLDN and Bloomberg.

The appointment comes as the ABI continues to focus on supporting its members through a period of significant change across the insurance market, including evolving regulation, technological transformation and changing customer expectations.

’Strong contribution’

Hannah Gurga, ABI director general said: “We’re delighted to welcome Christakou to the ABI. Her experience, leadership and energy will make a strong contribution to delivering on our priorities for members across the UK’s world-leading insurance and long-term savings sector.”

Christakou added: “I’m delighted to be joining the ABI at such an important time for the insurance and long-term savings industry.

”I’ve been impressed by the talent and commitment of the team and I look forward to working with them and with members to build on the ABI’s strong foundations, deepening the value it delivers and developing the commercial partnerships that support its work.”
