’Portfolio solutions is an important and fast-growing segment in our business,’ says chief underwriting officer
Allianz Commercial has appointed Daniel Head as its new head of delegated authority and portfolio solutions for UK global and international markets.
Head was most recently head of partnerships at RSA. He leaves the insurer after 18 years, with the last 10 years focused on managing delegated authority business.
He will take up his new role 1 September 2025 and be based in London.
His appointment comes as Allianz continues its focus on strategic relationships with MGAs, facilities, programmes and other delegated underwriting authority partners.
Other appointment
Head will report into Doan Nguyen-Huu, who has been appointed global head of portfolio solutions with effect from 1 August 2025.

Nguyen-Huu succeeds Claudia Valencia Lascar, who leaves Allianz as of 30 September 2025.
She joined Allianz in 2013, having previously worked in claims roles in other companies. Since then, she has worked in a range of different claims, underwriting, transformation and leadership positions in London and Munich.
Vanessa Maxwell, Allianz Commercial’s chief underwriting officer, said: “Portfolio solutions is an important and fast-growing segment in our business.
“Partnerships with MGAs and other delegated authority holders allow us to serve a wider range of customers across a variety of specialist products, making full use of Allianz’s capabilities and underwriting portfolio.
“I am delighted that Nguyen-Huu is leading our strategy here and I welcome Head on board as we further develop our business in this segment.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
