’The depth of talent across the organisation is impressive and I look forward to working closely with colleagues,’ says appointee

Lloyd’s Syndicate and MGA Volante Global has appointed Demian Smith as its new chief executive.

Smith began his career in the (re)insurance industry in 1995 and has experience working in broking and underwriting sides of the market.

He joins Volante Global from Guy Carpenter, where he was head of mutual, agency and captive solutions and co-head of strategic partnerships for the past five years.

Prior to Guy Carpenter, Smith was chief executive at StarStone Group.

Smith’s appointment is subject to current contractual obligations and regulatory approval.

“I am thrilled to be joining Volante Global at such a pivotal moment in its journey,” he said.

“The depth of talent across the organisation is impressive and I look forward to working closely with colleagues around the world to help unlock even more value.”

Succession

Smith will succeed Martin Reith, who is currently serving as interim chief executive.

Reith, who will remain as chairman and work closely with Smith, said: “I am delighted to welcome Smith to Volante Global.

“His experience and previous career made him an ideal candidate to succeed me as chief executive.

“I have very much enjoyed working with colleagues at Volante Global and look forward to continuing that journey as chairman.”
