Arch Insurance UK Regional Division has promoted four of its branch underwriting managers to the newly created roles of regional underwriting managers.

Steve Barlow, Andy Coates, Peter Howard and Paul Taylor will become managers for the Midlands and south west, London and the Home Counties, north and Scotland and south and Thames Valley, respectively.

They are responsible for enhancing cross-branch collaboration and delivering strategic support to underwriting teams within their regions, as part of the division’s growth objectives. 

All hires report to the corresponding regional managers – Ian Grundy, Tony O’Reilly, Janine Starkie and Janice Mullan.

Experience

The four hires bring decades of UK insurance market experience to their new positions.

Barlow joined Arch in 2019, having previously been deputy regional underwriting manager at Fusion Insurance. Coates also joined in 2019 from Fusion Insurance, where he was a regional trading manager.

Meanwhile, Howard joined Arch in 2019 from Arista Insurance, where he was a regional trading manager, while Taylor joined in 2020 having previously been a senior MGA segment manager at Simply Business.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
