‘As we continue to grow, broadening our risk appetite and expertise is the logical next phase of our development,’ says chief executive
Independent Lloyd’s (re)insurance broker ATL has announced it will enter the specialty lines market following the appointment of James Wilson.

Wilson will serve as a director at the firm, with ATL saying he would “spearhead [its] move into M&A, tax and capital risks, as well as a range of specialty product lines”.
Prior to his appointment at ATL, Wilson held the position of head of M&A and transactional risks at specialist advisor and broker Factor Risk Management.
His two-decade career also includes time at RFIB Group, Tysers and latterly United Insurance Brokers.
The appointment marks the first foray into the specialty lines market for ATL, which until now had specialised in commercial insurance, notably in the marine and energy sectors.
Broadened risk appetite
Iñaki Bandres, chief executive at ATL, said: “Over the last 10 years, ATL has been synonymous with energy and marine broking. As we continue to grow, broadening our risk appetite and expertise is the logical next phase of our development.

“I’m pleased to welcome Wilson to ATL and I look forward to developing our specialty lines capabilities as we look to offer clients a new and compelling service.”
The new appointee added: “I’m delighted to be joining ATL to drive their specialty lines offering. ATL’s international presence, independence and client centricity will provide the perfect platform to assist clients across a range of specialist products and geographies.”
