’His appointment reflects Howden’s commitment to building a world-class space capability,’ says leader

Howden has established a new dedicated Space insurance capability led by industry veteran Clive Strickland.

The new division will provide insurance propositions for clients operating in the sector, including satellite owners, manufacturers, launch providers, government agencies and commercial ventures.

Multiple risks will be covered, such as satellite launches and in-orbit operations.

Howden said the launch comes amid global premiums in the space market being worth around $600m (£451m) a year. This is projected to grow around 9% a year this decade.

Strickland experience

Strickland has over 25 years of experience in the Space sector.

He has previously built and expanded space teams in senior roles and brings extensive relationships and sector knowledge to Howden.

Jason Humphreys, managing director and global practice leader for aviation and space at Howden, said: “His appointment reflects Howden’s commitment to building a world-class space capability.

”His knowledge, drive and leadership will not only help us deliver exceptional solutions for clients, but also develop the next generation of space insurance specialists within Howden.”
