’AI is no longer an emerging technology for media companies,’ says chief underwriting officer
CFC has introduced affirmative artificial intelligence (AI) coverage within its media policy.

The update, which becomes effective on 30 July, forms part of the MGA’s wider programme to embed affirmative AI coverage across its portfolio.
The enhancement is designed to provide greater certainty for policyholders and brokers around how insurance responds when AI technologies are involved in content creation and business operations.
“AI is no longer an emerging technology for media companies,” said Nick Line, chief underwriting officer at CFC.
”It is already embedded in the way many businesses create, manage and distribute content. Our role is to ensure our products evolve alongside our customers’ businesses.”
Cyber coverages
Alongside the media liability updates, CFC has also added affirmative AI language to the policy’s cyber coverages.

Policyholders will benefit from the same cyber protection available through its Cyber Proactive Response (CPR) product while gaining greater clarity around how certain cyber triggers apply in an AI environment.
Examples include incidents where AI hallucinations or large language model prompts contribute to unexpected systems downtime.
Line said: ”These enhancements provide greater clarity around how coverage responds when AI is involved, while also addressing new cyber and privacy exposures arising from AI adoption.
”Together they deliver a more complete and relevant solution for the modern media industry. It is another example of CFC leading from the front as technology continues to reshape the risk landscape.”
