Insurance Times talks to FJN Solutions’ senior recruitment consultant about his strong performance in Fantasy Football this season
Gameweek 36 begins this Saturday (10 May 2025) with a slew of 3pm kick-offs, including Manchester City’s visit to Southmapton’s St Mary’s stadium – which many managers will be targeting as a potential goalfest.
With only three games left in the Premier League, the Insurance Times Fantasy Football League is well and truly into what Alex Ferguson famously called “squeaky bum time,” with limited opportunities for points remaining.
Before one of this season’s last gameweeks gets underway however, Insurance Times wanted to speak to Kai Ellis, the manager who performed second best in the month of April to catapult himself into the Top 10.
Kai Ellis sits just one point above Insurance Times news editor James Cowen, but 42 points behind Milliman’s Ian Penfold in third.
1. Congratulations on being in the Top 10 for GW35, how do you rate your chances of staying there?
I feel fifty-fifty about my chances. With teams already relegated, the league wrapped up and some teams focused on other competitions, it’s hard to say how much teams will care about their results in the Premier League – and how well their players will perform.
Hopefully my eight point lead on eleventh will be enough to keep me in the top 10!
2. What are the key decisions to make ahead of GW36?
Transfers. I have a couple to make and need to try and get in players from teams that are fighting for European places.
Also, picking the right 11 helps – I didn’t do this last week and have 17 points sitting on the bench.
3. Who would you call out as an under-rated player for everyone’s Fantasy squad?
Jacob Murphy. He’s playing regular minutes for a team currently fourth in the league, scoring and assisting for fun and is still only £5.3m.
4. Who or what would you like to call out in the insurance industry?
All of the work FJN Solutions does for Wolfram Syndrome UK. We hosted an industry football event in April 2025 and raised £3,492 for the charity.
We have another five-a-side football event scheduled in June, with all donations going toward a great cause.
FJN has supported the charity since 2021 and will continue to do so for as long as possible.
