’She brings vast technical expertise, strong market credibility and a proven track record in portfolio pricing and leadership,’ says chief executive

Lucida Group has appointed former Allianz personal lines broker boss Nicola George as its new group chief underwriting officer.

George is succeeding Mike Joseph, who will retire at the end of March 2026.

In addition to her group responsibilities, George will focus on executing the underwriting strategy of Right Choice Insurance Brokers’ (RCIB), which is part of Lucida.

She will work closely with insurer partners to strengthen relationships, support brand development and ensure positive customer outcomes.

George joins from Allianz, where she was managing director of Allianz Personal Broker, having previously held the role of pricing director at LV Broker and before that head of pricing and underwriting at Aviva for the broker and partnerships channels.

Matthew Gledhill, group chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to welcome George as group chief underwriting officer.

”She brings vast technical expertise, strong market credibility and a proven track record in portfolio pricing and leadership. Her appointment reinforces our commitment to disciplined underwriting, sustainable performance and strong insurer partnerships.”

George added: “I have been an advocate of the broker channel for many years and long admired the business that Joseph has built.

”I am excited to join Gledhill and the team to drive continued growth within the group and RCIB particularly.”

Retirement

Joseph started his journey in the insurance industry aged 16 with LV. He moved on to hold senior roles at 1st Quote Insurance and Allen and Allen Group, before forming RCIB in 2008.

A stake in the business was later sold to LDC, forming Lucida with Joseph as chief executive, before becoming chief underwriting officer.

Joseph will depart day-to-day operations while remaining the largest shareholder in Lucida.

Joseph said: “We started the company with just four employees and built a successful business with an enviable reputation. Now, after almost 40 years, it’s time to step back.

“I am delighted to be handing over my CUO role to a highly respected individual within the industry to build on our current success. I sincerely thank all our employees - past and present – and our professional partners for their support on this amazing journey.”
