’With her wealth of experience in the world of insurance and innovative mindset, she will play a vital role,’ says chief executive

London-based fintech Tint Financial Services has announced the appointment of former Hiscox distribution director Jodi Cartwright as its new chief commercial officer.

Cartwright joined Tint’s founding team in October 2023 and will bring her experience from the insurance sector to the firm in her new role.

She will be responsible for integrating insurance propositions into the platform alongside trade finance and key services for importing and exporting goods, with the aim to provide SMEs with all essential services in one platform.

She explained: “The insurance industry doesn’t have a great track record of innovation compared to other sectors.

“We have spotted a unique opportunity to seamlessly combine trade finance, insurance and other key services, making life easier for clients who want to trade internationally.

“We’re integrating top-tier technology from the market with custom-built solutions that enhance value for our clients and our business.”

Steve Rose, chief executive of Tint, added: “With her wealth of experience in the world of insurance and innovative mindset, we are confident that [Cartwright] will play a vital role in driving Tint Financial’s growth and success.”

Tint will initially offer trade credit and marine cargo insurance only, with plans in motion to expand services into other lines.

Unique opportunity

In her most recent role, Cartwright was distribution director at specialist insurer Hiscox for more than two years between 2021 and 2023.

Before her stint at Hiscox, she worked as a board advisor at IT services and consulting firm Found Tech for two years.

Cartwright has also held several senior roles at Aviva, including head of private clients, as well as being a commercial director at Brokerbility.

Between December 2017 and September 2020, Cartwright was the managing director of MGA startup Coverly, which closed that same year due to funding issues

Tint said it aimed to leverage artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain technologies to deliver efficiency for its clients.

The company also said it was committed to closing the gap in global trade complexity and lack of funding, which it claims currently holds back more than 30% of potential global trade.

Cartwright added: “The comprehensive suite of services offered on our platform is groundbreaking and unparalleled in the market and we’ve got a great opportunity to be leaders in this space.

”It’s an exciting time to be joining Tint and I look forward to helping the team during this pivotal phase of its journey.”
