The new hire brings over 30 years of insurance experience to the role
GRP-owned Sagar Insurance has appointed Neil Poulton as managing director.
The new hire joins from Marsh Commercial, where he was a branch director for nearly seven years.
Previously, Poulton was branch manager at Giles Insurance Brokers - now owned by AJ Gallagher - and branch sales director at Lorica Insurance Brokers, part of the PIB Group.
In his new role, Poulton will have overall responsibility for the Burnley-based broker and will report to Neil Thornton, managing director of retail at Global Risk Partners (GRP).
Sagar Insurance’s founder, John Meadows, has stepped back from his leadership role but will remain involved with client relationship management.
Navigating the hard market
Thornton said: “Neil has over 30 years in the insurance industry and is hugely experienced.
“Neil has a deep understanding of the particular needs and requirements of our clients and will be a steady hand as we navigate through the current hard market.
”I warmly welcome him to Sagars and am confident that with his leadership we will take the business forward to the next phase in its strategic journey.”
Poulton added: “Sagars is the leading brokerage in the East Lancashire area and I am very excited by the prospect of working alongside John to service our client base and grow the book.”
Poulton started at Sagar Insurance at the end of March 2021.
