Kelly Lane, operations director at Clegg Gifford, speaks on her firm’s entry to the Insurance Broker of the Year category
1. Why did you put yourselves forward for the Insurance Broker of the Year category?

Broker of the Year should recognise firms that move the market forward and this year I’m proud to say Clegg Gifford has been doing exactly that.
It has been a year of real momentum across the brokerage. Our schemes success has strengthened our foundations and our Lloyd’s and London market team has pushed that even further.
We have adopted new systems and seen claims performing well too. We’ve also proudly invested in learning and development (L&D) with apprenticeships now making up 10% of the firm.
The uplift in all these areas translates directly into better client outcomes.
2. What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?
Our people stand out.
It’s our people every time. They are simply the best at what they do and they deserve this.
Our London market team has been performing brilliantly, opening doors that were closed to many brokers and securing solutions in areas where capacity is tight.
Equally, our investment in learning and development across the business has improved front-line service for clients and brokers alike.
We have improved colleague engagement and customers feel the benefit. We should win because of all these things and more, recognition that when you back great people with the right support, the results speak for themselves.
3. What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?
Winning Broker of the Year would be a huge moment for our people.
I am already so proud of them, this would just cement that. From the progress in the London market to the uplift in service quality across the board.
This would recognise the hard work that has gone into tightening processes, raising standards and delivering consistently better outcomes for customers, as well as validating our investment in L&D, with apprentices embedded in the market and already shaping how we operate.
For us, the award is proof that our approach to broking is working and working exceptionally well.
