The deal represents the first acquisition since Greenwood Moreland joined JM Glendinning Group earlier this year

Greenwood Moreland Insurance Brokers has expanded its presence in Scotland with the purchase of the general insurance (GI) business of Lanark-based broker RC McLeish.

RC McLeish’s GI business products include public and employers liability, commercial combined, shops and offices, agricultural, motor fleet, contractors all risks, professional indemnity and home buildings and contents.

The broker also operates as an independent financial advisor (IFA) and these services will be unaffected by the acquisition.

This is the first deal since Greenland Moreland joined the JM Glendinning Group (JMG Group) in April 2022.

Greenwood Moreland’s managing director, Andrew Weir, said the buy “demonstrates JMG’s commitment to supporting our plans for continued growth in Scotland”.

It follows JMG Group buying Scotland’s largest independent broker, Perth-based GS Group earlier this week.

Shared approach

Weir added: “RC McLeish shares our traditional approach to customer service and operates in a way that feels very familiar to our team – I am sure they will be a welcome addition and that together we’ll go from strength to strength in the coming years.”

RC McLeish has provided advice to the Lanarkshire community for more than 40 years and provides services to both commercial and personal lines customers.

RC McLeish’s owner – Graeme McLeish – and his team will assist with the transfer of business to Greenwood Moreland from its office in Lanark over the next 12 months.

The team will be supported by Greenwood Moreland’s main office based nearby in Hamilton.
