’Acquiring the exclusive renewal rights allows us to support the brokers who placed the business,’ says managing director

Amiga Specialty has agreed to acquire the exclusive renewal rights to Volante International’s professional indemnity (PI) portfolio.

The move follows Volante placing Lloyd’s Syndicate 1699 into run-off earlier this year, with the new deal aiming to provide continuity for existing policyholders and brokers.

Amiga Specialty said the acquisition would also expand its PI division and support its wider ambitions across the financial lines sector.

David Filtness, managing director of PI at Amiga Specialty, said: “We have carefully analysed the portfolio and are confident it is a well-run, well-managed book of quality PI business that fits our underwriting appetite.

“Acquiring the exclusive renewal rights allows us to support the brokers who placed the business.”

Growth plans

Amiga Specialty said the transaction would provide brokers with continued access to experienced underwriters, A rated capacity and a specialist PI market as the business seeks to grow its liability portfolio.

Adam Kembrooke, chief executive at Amiga Specialty, said the agreement reflected the firm’s commitment to expanding its offering.

“In securing this exclusive agreement with Volante, we can continue our mission to provide exceptional levels of service to all policyholders and brokers,” he said.
