Insurance Times rounds up the biggest M&A announcements across the market from 3 to 7 August 2026

Two big M&A stories hit the headlines this week, this first of which being The Broker Investment Group’s purchase of a 70% majority stake in Newark-based broker Magnet Insurance.

Magnet – a 12-strong, £3.5m gross written premium (GWP) firm – will continue to operate under its current branding with no changes to staff or client arrangements, under the leadership of managing director Tony Bound and fellow directors Olivia Johnston and Kristian Johnston.

This week’s next deal came in the form of Minster Law’s acquisition of the personal injury business of Arag Law.

The transaction includes Arag Law’s personal injury legal team and active caseload. Shirley Woolham, chief executive at Minster Law, said: “This acquisition is another deliberate step in our long-term growth strategy and reflects our confidence in the future of specialist personal injury legal services.”
