’Her insurance track-record, industry connections and extensive market knowledge means she is a great fit for QBE,’ says director of underwriting

QBE has appointed Sharon Smallridge as portfolio manager for its UK casualty team.

Leading QBE’s London major client portfolio for the UK casualty team, Smallridge joins from commercial insurer AIG.

Effective from today, her role will be based out of QBE’s London office.

Bringing over 35 years of insurance experience across claims and underwriting, she has spent the last 12 years in various senior roles, most recently as general liability manager at AIG.

Expansion

In recent years, QBE’s UK casualty team has materially grown its gross written premium (GWP) through client acquisition driven by customer-focused products.

Smallridge’s appointment is the second senior hire for QBE’s UK casualty team this year. In June, QBE announced that Adrian Browne would take on the role of director of underwriting for UK casualty following the retirement of Anna Bennett at the end 2025.

Browne said:“We’re pleased to have Smallridge join our UK casualty team, where she will play an important role in our onward growth, especially across multinational.

“Her insurance track-record, industry connections and extensive market knowledge means she is a great fit for QBE.”
