‘His experience across insurers, brokers and high-growth startups will be instrumental as we scale Tide Insurance and broaden our protection offering,’ says chief executive

Business management platform Tide has appointed Dan McNally as senior vice president and chief executive of Tide Insurance Services.

The firm said that McNally’s appointment, which is still subject to FCA approval, would see him lead its ”growing global insurance business and drive the next phase of Tide’s expansion into business protection for small and medium-sized businesses”.

McNally will join from digital insurance intermediary Simply Business, where he served as business owner for the firm’s UK high value operation.

Prior to that, McNally spent 15 years working for insurer RSA, now Intact Insurance, where he held a series of senior and leadership positions.

This included head of sales for the London region and strategic sales director for UK commercial lines.

Tide has only recently entered the UK business insurance market, partnering with Admiral Business to add connected insurance to its business management platform and app services.

The firm currently has a portfolio of some 800,000 UK business members, presenting what it described as a “clear opportunity to deliver a consistent, digital-first protection experience across its global network”.

Important milestone

Oliver Prill, chief executive at Tide, said: “McNally’s appointment marks an important milestone in our mission to make running a business simpler for small business owners around the world.

“His experience across insurers, brokers and high-growth startups will be instrumental as we scale Tide Insurance and broaden our protection offering. We’re delighted to welcome him to the Tide leadership team.”

The new appointee added: “Tide is uniquely positioned to reshape how small businesses manage insurance – combining a deep understanding of members’ needs with the power of technology.

“Having seen the challenges small and medium-sized businesses face from both insurer and broker perspectives, I’m excited to build on Tide’s momentum and develop smart, connected insurance solutions that make protection simple, relevant and part of everyday business management.”
