The hire plans to collaborate with the broker market

Short-term motor insurance specialist Tempcover has appointed Ryan Bendelow to the role of partnerships director.

Bendelow will aim to consolidate the insurer’s prior success in the automotive retail and insurance aggregator sectors by expanding Tempcover’s reach into new sectors – such as the broker market.

Bendelow joins Tempcover from insurtech Zego, where he has worked as head of B2B sales since March 2020. In this role, he set the insurtech’s distribution strategy, grew the broker partner base and delivered against the new business budget.

Bendelow also spent 13 years at insurer RSA , where he held various roles including leading the national SME deals team, etrading channel manager and sales manager for the south broker development team.

In his new position, Bendelow will be responsible for expediting the growth of Tempcover’s existing partnerships, while developing new ones too.

Tempcover chief executive Alan Inskip said: “Tempcover continues to enjoy sustained and measurable growth in the face of adverse economic conditions and, with Ryan’s wealth of industry experience combined with his proven track record in increasing sales and growing partnerships, we are confident that he will help to accelerate this growth.”

Bendelow added: “For the insurtech industry to disrupt, adoption at scale is key.

“Tempcover has already developed an impressive partner base and I look forward to building on that to enable us to distribute products to large customer bases, faster.

“By working collaboratively with more partners, we’ll ensure continuous iterative improvements to our insurance products, ultimately to the benefit of our customers.”

Since 2006, Tempcover has sold more than 3.4 million short-term vehicle insurance policies that last anywhere between one hour and 28 days.
