Joining from Howden, Reed held the position of managing director of large and complex risks and will now drive growth at Aon with FTSE350 and private businesses, working closely with the broker’s leaders across the country.

Another broker story enters the lineup for the biggest people moves this week, as Ardonagh appointed Chris Lay as an operating partner at Ardonagh Capital Partners.

Most recently serving as chief executive at Marsh UK, Lay will work on group strategy and deploy his experience across the Ardonagh portfolio of companies.

Next up is yet another broker move, as PIB Group hired Rob Houghton as its new chief operations officer.

Joining from Aspen Insurance Group, Houghton’s new remit at PIB Group will span technology and operations, working closely with chief executives and leaders across the group to drive growth across the UK and Europe, while streamlining and scaling its operations and processes.

It was also announced this week that Rob Worrell, chief executive at Everywhen, has decided to retire at the end of 2026 following over eight years at the company.

In a statement sent to Insurance Times, Ardonagh, which owns Everywhen, said Worrell is retiring to prioritise time with his family.

Ending this week’s lineup is a move in the London market, with Lloyd’s syndicate Aegis London appointing Robert Blue as a new non-executive director and board member.

Blue is a member of the board at Aegis – the syndicate’s parent company – as well as the chair, president and chief executive at electric and natural gas utility company Dominion Energy.
