The new hire recently worked as managing director of Simply Business’ MGA

Intermediary organisation The Clear Group has appointed Phil Williams as its new chief operating officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Williams joins The Clear Group from broker Simply Business, where he led the firm’s operations team and acted as managing director of its global MGA. In this position, he supported the MGA’s growth in both the UK and North America.

Prior to Simply Business, Williams was commercial director at Lancaster Insurance Services.

He is also currently a non-executive director for the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Society of Underwriting Professionals.

Eyeing growth 

The Clear Group chief executive Mike Edgeley said: “Phil is a tremendous appointment for The Clear Group as we continue to deliver on the next phase of our development.

“He brings a broad range of experience across distribution, pricing, operations, underwriting and product development, which will undoubtedly add real value to our exciting growth plans.”

Williams added: “I am delighted to be joining The Clear Group at such an important stage of its journey.
