Aviva chief executive Amanda Blanc has said she still has “plenty more to do” after winning The Insurance Times Industry Achiever award at this year’s Insurance Times Awards.

Blanc picked up the award, which was sponsored by Close Brothers Premium Finance, at the event in the iconic Grosvenor Hotel in London earlier this month (6 December 2023).

The judges said that Blanc had “continued to steer Aviva to success over the past year, but also kept the flag flying for the insurance industry more generally”.

“She has spoken out admirably on issues such as environmental transformation, work-life balance and the continued problem of sexism within the industry, to great effect,” the panel added.

“She also appeared on Desert Island Discs and remains a popular figure within the industry, with those that have worked with her calling her ‘incredibly impressive’, ‘the best boss I ever had’ and ‘an excellent mentor’.”

After receiving the trophy, Blanc told reporter Isobel Rafferty: ”It is very nice to be recognised. I don’t feel like it is the end of the lifetime, so I have still got plenty more to do! But it is very special to be recognised by your own industry.”
