On 25 September 2025, Insurance Times hosted a webinar, in association with Iceye, that discussed how the insurance sector is evolving across all stages of flood response to meet the challenges posed by the increasing frequency and severity of UK flood events.
The webinar was hosted by Insurance Times deputy editor Yiannis Kotoulas, who was joined by Laura Lazarus, Aviva’s head of personal lines homes claims, Charlie Bush, Zurich’s head of large, complex and commercial insurance claims, and Paul Sowden, Iceye’s strategic account manager for the UK, Australasia and Africa.
The panellists discussed the operational lessons that could be drawn from last year’s 12 named storms, before moving on to topics that included situational awareness before and during flooding, the importance of resource management and allocation and how the sector could improve in the future.
