RSA is responding to Zurich statement that is it is evaluating a possible offer for the rival insurer
RSA says it has not held any talks with or received a proposal from Zurich about acquiring its business.
The insurer has also advised its shareholders to take no action.
The announcement from RSA follows a statement by Zurich earlier today that it is evaluating a possible offer for RSA.
RSA said: “This announcement does not amount to an announcement of a firm intention to make an offer. There can be no certainty that an offer will be made or as to the terms of any such offer, should one be made.
“This announcement has been made without the consent of Zurich.”
RSA will update the market on its trading performance and strategic progress at its interim results announcement on 6 August 2015.
