Government map maker Ordnance Survey plans to break into the insurance market with its store of data.

Strategic relationship manager Gavin Lewis said the 200-year-old organisation could help insurers underwrite more accurate by providing greater risk, claims and fraud data.

Ordnance Survey's real-world, UK-wide maps can be tailored to contain demographics, aerial imagery, geological data and more.

"Insurance is a strategic market in the future success of the organisation so we're committed to development products and partnerships," Lewis said.
