QBE will launch an aviation syndicate to operate within its Limit managing agency at Lloyd's, it was announced today.
The insurer has appointed Emilio Di Silvio as active underwriter for the syndicate, which is expected to commence trading on 1 October 2006, subject to Lloyd's approval.
The provisional business plan would encompass a portfolio which will include general aviation, major airlines, products and airport business.
Steven Burns, CEO of QBE European Operations, commented: “Limit has been a London-market aviation reinsurer for some years.
“Whilst the direct aviation sector has clearly benefited from unusually low loss activity in recent years, we believe that market is now showing much greater stability and underwriting discipline than it has historically. “
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
