A second senior executive at General Reinsurance, Richard Napier, plans to plead guilty in the investigation of insurer AIG, according to reports.

The investigation rests on transactions between General Re, a unit of Berkshire Hathaway, and AIG, which allegedly added millions of dollars to AIG's balance sheet in the fourth quarter of 2000 and the first quarter of 2001.

Former head of General Re's Cologne reinsurance unit, John Houldsworth, has already pleaded guilty to charges relating to transactions between the two companies.

According to reports, Houldsworth's evidence could implicate the current head of General Re, Joseph Brandon.
