Somerset broker Higos has launched Higos Direct in a bid to reach £100m gross written premium (GWP) in five years and become the top South West broker.

Managing director Ian Godsen said: We are completing the purchase of 10,000 sq ft of office space in Somerton
and that will be the base for Higos Direct.

It is our aim to write £50m GWP through the direct arm by 2012.”

The broker will also open an office in Glastonbury next month, and there are plans for further offices to be opened
across Somerset as the broker expands.

Godsen said the broker was looking to buy up books of business to boost growth of its broker business. He said: “We have just acquired a book of business from
[Somerset-based broker] Graham & Co, and we are looking for more nationally.”

“We are open to anything. The one thing I feel passionate about is that we can provide clients with whatever they
want,” said Gosden.

Two acquisitions are expected to be completed in the next two months, and a third will be completed by December,
adding £5m to the broker's GWP.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
