Backchat was impressed to hear that Spectrum Syndicate Management chief actuary Stavros Martis endured the agony of a leg-wax to raise money for charity.

Chief operating officer Mike Wells went for the less painful route of having his beard shaved off. Martis' 'sexy' smooth legs and Wells' close shave raised a total of £3,000 in aid of Comic Relief /BBC Sport charity Sport Relief. After the ordeal, Wells said: "After nearly 30 years I needed to see what was under the beard." Martis merely cried: "Ouch!"
