Holidaymakers should keep records of any injuries they receive while on a break, says Swift Medical Services.

Swift GP Trevor Underwood said UK travellers were “good at putting on a stiff upper lip and avoiding a fuss”. However, poor or late treatment might mean they had to miss work or pay for expensive medical aid when they returned home.

“People rightly see their GP when they get home, then join the queue for NHS treatment, perhaps not realising they could claim private treatment and recover the cost from the holiday firm, hotel or whoever was liable,” Underwood said. “My advice is to seek treatment straight away, take photographs if you can and to keep a record of all the treatments and dealings.”
