A.M. Best has affirmed the A- (excellent) financial strength rating of The Underwriter Insurance Company.
The rating agency said the affirmation reflects "the maintenance of an excellent level of capitalisation and the strong profile that the company has developed in the UK and other selected core markets.
"A conservative investment strategy and comprehensive reinsurance programme are also viewed positively," it said.
It cited as offsetting factors the deterioration in the company's operating performance in 2001 and its relatively short operating history.
