Towergate’s insurance broking accounting (IBA) and client money director Richard Shannon is leaving after 11 years with the broking group.

He led the broking group’s efforts to set up and strengthen its IBA operations centre in Leeds.

Shannon will leave at the end of October and hand the reins of the Leeds IBA centre to Nigel Dearsley, who will join Towergate on 1 October.

He joins from broker Howden, where he was head of finance operations. Dearsley previously held a similar role at Bluefin and was a director of Heath Lambert.

Before becoming IBA and client money director in November 2013, Shannon was group finance director for Towergate-owned Broker Network between January 2008 and October 2013. Before that he was a regional financial director for Towergate.

In an internal memo, Towergate praised Shannon’s “considerable efforts and contribution.”

The memo added: “We wish him well for the next step of his career.”

The news closely follows the announcement that Towergate Underwriting chief executive Clive Nathan is leaving the business at the end of October, and a number of management changes in the broking division.
