Accountancy firm PKF has confirmed reports that the Chester-based insurance broker Astbury Wren and Company has been sold to commercial insurance specialist Risk Services (NW).

Kerry Bailey and Jim Stewart-Koster of PKF were appointed as joint administrators to the firm on Monday, February 20.

Reports suggest that 13 full-time and two part-time jobs will be transferred to Risk Services who say they are now the largest independent broker in the Chester area.

In an open letter on the Astbury Wren and Company website on February 21, Steve Lowe, managing director of Risk Services (NW), assured customers that their policies would remain unaffected and said: “It is our intention to relocate the Astbury Wren staff into our existing Chester premises over the coming weeks.”

It added: “The acquisition of the Astbury Wren clients and staff will enable us to continue our growth whilst reinforcing our commitment to Chester, the North West and North Wales by retaining local jobs.”
