Company history:

Halifax Insurance Company was acquired by Provident Financial in 1978 and in 1994 the company's name was changed to Provident Insurance.

Provident Insurance is a private motor insurance underwriter specialising in women drivers, older vehicles and non-comprehensive risks. The company is committed to transacting business through the intermediary channel.

Provident's strategy is to maintain a low cost base while investing sensibly in good people and efficient technology, which together deliver high levels of customer service. This approach, together with a focus on ensuring that pricing reflects the current levels of claims inflation, has delivered enviable results over recent years.

Biography:

Mark Collier graduated in law and then joined Provincial Insurance where he spent eight years in various locations across the UK.

Collier has also worked for Iron Trades Insurance Group where he managed various functions in the motor and personal lines operation.

Collier joined Provident Insurance in 1995, completing an MBA at Bradford University and becoming operations director in July 1999. He was appointed managing director in 2001.
