The clampdown by Caerphilly Council on fraudulent compensation claims was praised today by the ABI.
Caerphilly Council said it has saved over £5m in the lasy five years by exposing compensation cheats.
Stephen Haddrill, director general, said: “Caerphilly Council's stand against bogus compensation claims sends a clear message that they are not a soft touch for cheats.
"This is good news for honest Council Tax payers who end up footing the bill. It also means that the Council can deal with genuine claimants more quickly.”
Dayton Griffiths, insurance and risk manager at Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “By being tough, we have successfully reduced the number of compensation claims by 75% over the last four years.
"We are here to help legitimate claimants, but those who attempt to defraud the Council should be in no doubt that they will be caught and punished.”
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
