Fantasy Football: Should you triple captain Haaland?

There was plenty of movement in the Insurance Times Fantasy Football League last week, with Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes punishing those who chose not to pick or captain him with a huge points haul.

Fernandes scored three goals, supplied an assist and claimed maximum bonus for a 23-point haul as Manchester Utd beat Ipswich Town 5-2. 

According to the official Fantasy Football page, Fernandes was also the fourth most-sold player of gameweek two, shipped out by over 244,000 managers.

Thankfully, I kept him, although decided to captain Erling Haaland for his match against Crystal Palace.

But even his two goals were not enough to match Fernandes’ performance and, as a result, I ended up dropping down the table, as did many other managers.

Some managers, however, secured excellent points totals. For example, Ben Iwanowytsch secured 143 points, while Nick Francis managed to take 150. Therefore, it is no surprise that they sit in the top three in the league.

Triple captain Haaland?

This week, there is one key question. Should managers triple captain Haaland?

According to the official Fantasy Football page, Haaland’s 10 shots and nine shots in the box so far this season are already two and three times the respective totals of any team-mate.

And this weekend Manchester City welcome promoted Coventry City to the Etihad Stadium, with the latter having just suffered two defeats in a row.

Of course, there are plenty of other opportunities to use your first triple captain, but with an in-form Manchester City and Haaland going up against a struggling Coventry City team at home, it could be a great opportunity to use that triple captain.
