Lloyd's broker Alwen Hough Johnson (AJH) has set up a new division called AHJ Special Lines.

The division will mainly concentrate on placing and servicing a portfolio of north American liability binding authority and open market business.

AHJ Special Lines also has a mandate to develop a portfolio of property business and three contracts providing underwriting services to Lloyd's risk carriers.

David Doe has been appointed chairman and Mike Bender a director of the division, employing a team of seven. The team, including Sue Korth, Robert Poole and Dan Cappuccio, previously operated under the name of Bell Clements and Doe.

AHJ, which has traded at Lloyd's since 1973, previously set up another specialist division for credit, surety and political risk business last year.

Its non-marine department handles most classes of treaty reinsurance including catastrophe and risk and accident contingency business.
